I got a super cheap price on this, so I'm extremely happy for what I paid, however to truly be objective I think it's important to mention that I'm a bit disappointed that only SOME of the Japanese text is translated into English, a good amount is just in Japanese so I have no idea what's being talked about. That being said, the art quality is fantastic, and as a suda51 fan (for the most part) this is such a nice little treat. A lot of this is stuff that's already been seen and readily available on the internet, so you won't find things you haven't seen for the most part, but it does have quite a few concept arts/character designs from GhM's expansive library, and it's a very nice piece to own. Because I've already seen 90% of this art/the English commentary is incredibly scarce, I have to give this a 3/5, especially if you start paying closer to $40 like this MSRPs for. However if you're an artist and want to own a piece of some of your favorite games (I LOVE NMH, Shadows of the Damned, Lolipop Chainsaw) and you like collecting artbooks, there's no reason you should skip out on this.

This is a steal at <$10. Every game has at least a mention with most pages dedicated to Lollipop, Shadows of the Damned, and Killer is Dead. The text is Japanese, some having English translations right underneath the text but most of the translations are kept in the back of the book. There's not much text but what is there I found to be enlightening about how the games were designed, rather than a note about how "we tried to make this character cool". Grasshopper MFG and Goichi Suda are a brilliant bunch of designers and deserve to be right alongside the most celebrated video game creators.

This is a great compilation of a large collection of games spanning Goichi Suda's entire career up until Let It Die. It has a heavy focus on concept art that veries in depth form game to game but what really makes thisa gem sis the commentary Suda gives for each game and project he worked on. This gives some great insight into the making of all of Grasshopers games and explains many of the more outlandish decisions made per game. However i do emphisize that the amount of art you get per game varies and what you get as art varies as well. However, considering this is the only art book released for any of Sudas work it is a must have for fans and art enthusiast.

I'm pretty happy with this artbook, a friend of mine got it, and i had to get my own copy.The grasshopper artwork is pretty great, and the variety of characters make it more worth with so many styles.

I bought this for my buddy who loves Suda 51 and having flipped through it this is a great little art book. It's in Japanese so I didn't get the full effect, but paging through this studio's company brought a great deal of joy to me personally. If you have any love for this studio, their games or just good, if quirky, video game art in general this is worth purchasing.

Love their work. The games they put out are good. It's got unique art work from a bunch of really good creative games. It's definitely worth the price, can't beat it.

Suda 51 is my biological father.

Nice collection of illustrations and details of various works, however most of the English translation isn't edited into the pages but instead simply located at the back of the book like a script - it can get annoying to flip back and forth while reading the book.
